Migratory Bird Hunts

Besides the world class big game hunting, Northern Alberta is also known for it's migratory bird hunting. Each year thousands upon thousands of migratory birds including Canadian Geese, Ross Geese, Snow Geese and numerous varieties of Ducks stage in the area to feed on cereal grains in the fields and prepare for their long journey south.

For the Goose and Duck hunters, these are ideal conditions. These birds are still relatively naive to hunters and rarely shy from the blinds we set up because North Star Alberta  is located in the first Northern Flyaway as birds prepare for their southern flight to their winter feeding grounds. Add to this the long season we have and the liberal limits and it is easy to see why we consider our migratory bird hunting to be some of the best offered anywhere.

Our migratory bird hunts are 3 day hunts and include  food, lodging, license, transportation to and from the hunt area, and a great time. Care of the birds once harvested is the hunters responsibility, but we also have a location where the birds can be processed and prepared at an additional charge. As stated earlier we have liberal bag limits in Northern Alberta so bring plenty of shells and camera film.

Upland Bird Hunts

In the Northern Boreal Region the Ruffed Grouse is the most abundant game bird and the Boreal Fringe offers the best Ruffy hunting in the Province. During the peak hunting cycles it is not uncommon for hunters to get limits of 10 birds. Besides Ruffed Grouse the Sharp Tailed Grouse and the Spruce Grouse are locally abundant along with the Ptarmigan and Pheasants which can be also be found in numbers.

Our Upland Game Bird hunts are a lot of fun and allow our hunters to challenge their shooting skills. When our clients come in pairs or groups and as they start to fill their Big Game tags, the Upland Game Bird hunts offer additional excitement and challenges.
